Wash Day

Sunday is my usual Wash day, so if you do have a regimen or are looking for tips on what to do on Wash day, here goes

My process on Wash day is pretty straight forward; I wash my hair, deep condition, detangle  then air-dry/style it.

Right now, my hair is about 17 weeks post relaxer and I've got quite a lot of new growth, so dealing with the two textures requires a little more time

13 weeks post relaxer

For this you will need the following;

  • Shampoo
  • Deep Conditioner
  • Large Tooth Comb
  • T-Shirt
  • Moisturiser or a creamy leave-in
  • Oils
  • Towel
  • Preferred styling tool
Shampoo: I would normally use my Organix Argan Oil shampoo on my regular wash day, however today I will be using my ORS Aloe Vera Creamy shampoo because I have been using a lot of products in my hair and I feel like I need to remove any product build up.

  1. Section Hair into 4 parts and then rinse hair thoroughly with warm water (opens cuticles)
  2. Use about a dime-sized amount to clean each part
  3. Massage my scalp with whatever is left and rinse out the shampoo

Deep Condition: On days that I clarify I do a protein treatment before I deep condition, but today will be different as last sunday when I did my protein treatment I washed with my Organix shampoo, so today I am making up by switching my shampoos. You can use a store bought DC however I prefer to use a my DC mix here that works for my hair.

  1.  Leave the DC in my hair for 45 mins
  2.  cover my hair with a plastic bag
  3.  wrap my head with a towel for extra heat and then type this post
Detangle & Rinse: Before I rinse out my deep condition,
  1. I comb each section gently from tip to roots with a large tooth comb
  2. I apply some of my VO5 conditioner to my detangled hair
  3. Rinse it all out with cold water (well as cold as my head can take), this helps to close the cuticles and seal in the moisture
Drying & Styling:
  1. I wrap my hair in an old t-shirt to drain the excess water for 30 minutes
  2. Moisturise with my Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends leave-in
  3. Although not in my regular regimen, I use some of my Cantu shea butter leave-in (it is a really light protein that can be used weekly)
  4. Seal with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Air-Dry hair in bendy/flexi rods.
